After six months (some had waited far longer) I was losing patience. But, like Zack Mayo, I had nowhere else to go.
The magenta curse made the Ursa Mini untrustworthy at any price. So I dove back into researching the 4k Sony FS7 and 4k Canon C300. Both were affordable and available, but buying either seemed like settling from a features/price comparison next to a Scarlet-W.
And just as I was losing faith, Jarred (CEO) and Brent (COO) at RED lost their mother@#$%ing minds.
Jarred and Brent are incredible. They make the most sought after cameras in the world, at almost every level of film production from features to local level producers like me, and yet they communicate almost daily with their customers directly through the online forum REDUSER.NET. They are passionate, not just about the tech, but also about shooters to a degree I’ve never seen before in the manufacturing side of the industry.
And they proved it on October 11th, 2016, at 11am PST.
